ARSL Open 2020 Wrap Up

Hugh long weekend of comptition for our boat section at Mollymook and Long Beach. Great results acorss all crews and once again well done to Boff and the section.

North Cronulla Sunday wrap up from a very proud Boat Captin:

It was back to business for 5 NC crews at Mollymook beach for Quarter Finals. Blueys Open Women,Pats Reserve Men, Purd’s Reserve Men, Funkys Reserve Women and Purds u23 Men all enjoyed challenging but the best conditions we’ve seen all weekend.

Congratulations on brilliant results.Silver - Purds u23 Men and Funkys Reserve Women and Bronze for Purds Reserve Men.

Bluey’s Open Women bowed out after the semis and Pats Reserve Men after the quarters ! Due to the conditions, Pats Crew had one row each day over this 3 day carnival which definitely stopped momentum! The State team had the same problem as State team races and relays were pushed from one day to another and are now due to be held on Friday at Aussie Titles “weather permitting”.

Benny Jessop was the only one relieved as he was recruited by South Australia while standing on the beach! They know talent when they see it Jesso!

Thank you to our sweeps who do an incredible job in and out of the water. A huge thank you to everyone who towed boats as this is a massive responsibility . Special thanks to Justine Lea from Back to Balance who even whilst on maturity leave was performing adjustments .Special thank you to Chris Freeman who ubered Maddi Mackinnery down so she could sleep after night shift on Saturday. Chris worked tirelessly helping out -as he always does! It was great to see the tents packed with supporters, from baby Ari Lea (10 weeks old) to multiple grandparents and parents old and new to the sport !

I say it all the time - we can’t attend carnivals without providing officials, Tony De Francesco , Frank Schreuder, Dave & Natasha Hargraves and our club captain and member of the Doriss Boat crew Linda Hawkins- you are the best in the business and we appreciate your time. We walked away from this ASRL with 4 well deserved medals and invaluable rowing experience against the best crews in Australia.

Thank you for making me a very proud Boat Captain .
