We are experiencing a global pandemic with the COVID-19 outbreak that is impacting our day to day lives at an unprecedented level. The impact of physical distancing and isolation can make us feel anxious, stressed and worried and please understand you all have the support of the surf club management, your section leaders, families and friends and of course your mates and peers at the club.
We are all in this together and stay connected and speak to your mates, section leaders or coaches if you need help.
There are many government resources and help available from not for profit organisations like Beyond Blue.

North Cronulla SLSC is committed to the safeguarding of children and young people in Surf Life Saving. One way we do this is by ensuring that our members behave in a way which creates a safe, positive and inclusive environment. Surf Life Saving Australia Member Protection Policy and Codes of Conduct represent the minimum standards of member behaviour and must be complied with at all times.
Please review the SLSA Member Protection Policy so you understand your responsibilities within our organisation.
North Cronulla SLSC are committed to providing a safe, supportive, enjoyable environment for children through the SLSA Safeguarding Children and Young People Program. The program recognises the importance of protecting young people under the age of 18 from abuse, harm and exploitation.
Resources, webinars and online training courses are available to every club member to establish clear guidelines for appropriate behaviour when engaging with children and young people. To learn more about how you can protect our children and young members, please contact our Member Protection Information Officer or read the Safeguarding Children Handbook and read and review the following SLSNSW Safeguarding Resources Toolkit
All members who work with children and young people are required to complete the Surf Life Saving’s Safeguarding Children and Young People Awareness Course. To ensure you are recognised for completing the course, please login to the Members Portal first. Access to the course can be found in Memberships > Courses > Login to ELearning > Training Library > SLS > Safety and Wellbeing (View Courses) > Safeguarding Children and Young People Awareness.
Play by the Rules also offer a free Child Protection online course that provides a certificate of completion.
North Cronulla SLSC has a strong interest in keeping children safe. As a club, we comply with the Child Protection legislation where all members in child-related roles are required to have a WWCC. A WWCC is needed if you are a Committee Member (Senior or Nippers), trainer, coach, mentor, or help with Nippers and are not a parent. Nipper parents do not need a WWCC for working with Nippers.
For more information please read the updated Child Protection and the NSW Working With Children Check guidelines.
To apply for a WWCC please follow the process below and email your approved number to Admin
Member Protection Information Officers (MPIO) play an important role in community and sporting organisations. They provide information and guidance on complaints procedures and are the first point of call in the club for any enquiries, concerns or complaints about harassment, abuse or other inappropriate behaviour. The MPIO provides information about possible ways to resolve the issue and offers moral support to the person who raises the concern or the person who is the subject of the alleged behaviour. The MPIO will treat all information as strictly confidential.
The Office of Sport is releasing a new series of videos that illustrate the important role MPIOs play in sporting clubs and associations across NSW. Our club has an MPIO in place and report monthly to our Board of Director (BOD) meeting.
Please review SLSNSW Member Protection Information Officer resources.
If you need to contact our MPIO please email in first instance to mpio@ncslsc.com.au and your request will be treated in strict confidence.
