R & R
North Cronulla Rescue
Mission Statement 2016/2017
To be the most successful Surf Life Saving club in R&R. To medal at every Championship carnival in each age division. We will do this by training to win, committing to our lifesaving duties, acting as one team, and competing to the best of our ability.
The Season Ahead
Welcome to the 2016/2017 season. For those returning again and for our new members, I look forward to a great summer with you all. This season the focus will be on teamwork and maintaining a positive approach to competition, results, fellow team members, and the wider club. We will remember our lifesaving obligations. We will lead by example, and help promote our sport through our success. The goal in sight is State and Australian victory, however the journey there is just as important.
We are always looking for new members, are you looking for a sport which involves teamwork, a team of dedicated coaches, and a chance to achieve national success with your friends? Then this might be it!
North Cronulla has one of the strongest and oldest R&R sections in Australia with multiple Australian and State championships. Most recently our club has won consecutive Open Women Australian Gold in 2012, 2014, 2015 and NSW State gold in the U17 open in 2016.
The R&R event provides the opportunity for teams to demonstrate competitively the original methods of rescue with a belt and line, as well as the modern techniques of resuscitation. The sport offers a unique opportunity for a variety of athletic ability where team members have individual phychological and biomechanical requirements and responsibilities.
There are a number of different events in the sport including 2-Person, 5-person and 6-person mixed and open female and male.
Junior Club Events
For Under 11 through to Under 14 there is a 2person, and 5person event. These events are conducted without a water rescue and as such all you require to compete is a commitment to train, co-ordination and teamwork.
Senior Club Events
For over 14s SLSA offer a 5person and 6person event. The U17 and U19 events are mixed gender with an open Women’s and Open Men’s events. The senior events include a timed swimming rescue with a belt and line and as such requires a higher level of strength and
fitness by the two ‘swimmers’ and three linesmen who are tasked with pulling the rescuer and patient back to the shore and demonstrating patient carry, lift and resuscitation.
