Sea Lice Match Report - Round 4

28 April 2018

Match Report v Wakehurst on 28 April.

Our game in Round 4 saw our boys run on for their first game, given that Round 1 was a Forfeited match.

It also saw the return of a number of our Surf Sports Competitors in Dane, Nick and Chad our NC Chargers Representatives.

Coach Bunger had the boy’s revved up pre-match in the sheds with a rousing speech centred on Foreshaw No.2 being ‘Our House’ and for it to be place no opposition wants to play. He reiterated he wanted the game to be a running one. He and co-coach Joel also wanted the boy’s to remain focussed after their two previous wins. It was also going to be a challenge for regular centre, Chris Charlton, to step into our regular fly-half, Dave McGrath, out with a shoulder injury – boys were instructed to support all day long.

Without really knowing what to expect, but with a great of conference on the boy’s ran, with Captain Rhys ‘Chris’ Schreuder leading the boy’s in an enthusiastic ‘Itch’ before the kickoff.

What followed was scintillating display of running rugby, punctuated with vigorous defence and great supporting attack. To provide detail of all our fantastic tries would make this record a long one as the boy’s took no prisoners this day running in 16 to Nil. ‘Man of the Match’ Jordan Owen had spiders on him as he ran in 6 tries, converting one himself for a 32 point haul. Other highlights were 2 tight-head scrum wins (which resulted in tries), the two Davis boys again dominating the breakdown with great support from Rhys, Wally’s ankle-high defence and Angus McKenzie’s running of the pill. However folks there were no bad players from the Sea-Lice this day – everyone put ‘in’.

Great effort boys – a game that will strike a fair bit of fear into the rest of the competition.
